CANDIDATE ENDORSEMENTS:

Note:  “endorsement” of a candidate means we are happy with all the candidate’s positions on NOW’s issues and most of the rest of the issues as well.  “Recommendation”  means we are happy with most of the candidate’s answers re NOW’s issues, but not all.  Call any board member for more info.

SHERIFF

Judy Levy NOW PAC is pleased to announce its endorsement of Bill Davis for Sheriff.  Not only is he eminently qualified for the Sheriff’s office, but he is also great on NOW’s issues.

Two candidates take a different view on waiting periods before an abortion for a special reason:  they fear an impregnator might force an abortion on a woman who does not want it.  While we feel that the inaccessibility of abortion clinics greatly overwhelms the possibility of a forced abortion, we recognize the point of view as potentially a valid one.  Therefore we conditionally endorse Butch Jones and Lonnie Scott.

SCHOOL BOARD

District 1: Tina Pinkoson v Clint Robinson -  we vote for Clint Robinson.  Clint receives our strong endorsement as an experienced teacher with good ideas for the future and a solid support for women’s rights.  We appreciate Tina meeting and sharing her views with us.

District 5: Ginger Childs v Deb Cupples -  a tough choice.  Ginger has the experience, but Deb has the initiative to look into problems instead of taking things at face value, for example, on the issue of racism - one of NOW’s 5 core issues.  Other than that issue, as far as NOW's core issues are concerned, we were unable to discern any significant differences..  Talk to each of them - decide whom you prefer.
